From offer to deed of sale

Your offer is accepted — what happens next?

You have found the property that suits you and your offer has been accepted. In most cases, you will sign a preliminary contract subject to various conditions, particularly the securing of your mortgage.

Under the French Construction and Housing Code, you have a ten-day cooling-off period from receipt of a copy of this preliminary contract.

The notary's role from contract to completion

The notary will request all necessary preliminary documents: planning certificates, mortgage statements, civil status documents, natural risk assessments, drainage surveys, etc.

Once all conditions have been fulfilled, the authentic deed of sale can be signed. The deed will then be registered and published. Once returned from the Land Registry, your authenticated copy — the title deed — will be delivered to you.
